PBTISD welcomes two new Trustees and one incumbent

May 2022 Election ResultsPBTISD would like to welcome and congratulate Becky Gonzales, Amanda Kington, and Lanette Portillo, to the Board of Trustees for the May 2022 election.

They will join current board members: Criselda Carrasco, Cookie Canon, Sam Lujan, and AlexAndrea Zamarripa for the next three years.

Becky Gonzales was re-elected for her second term on the Board of Trustees.

“I look forward to continuing to serve my community of PBTISD and would like to thank everyone for going out to vote,” said Gonzales.

Former teacher and business owner, Amanda Kington was elected to her first three-year term with PBTISD.

“I am so humbled and excited to have been elected to serve our district,” said Amanda Kington. “Thank you for having confidence in me to help our students get the best educational opportunities. We have many great things happening here and I can’t wait to be a positive component for our students, faculty, and community members.”

Lanette Portillo, another former teacher, was also elected to her first three-year term.

“I am so incredibly humbled and grateful to the community of Pecos, Barstow, and Toyah for allowing me to be your voice,” said Lanette Portillo. “And to ensure that our students, teachers, and administrators have the resources necessary to thrive and become one of the best and most recognized, quality educational districts in our great state of Texas. Thank you, Pecos, Barstow, and Toyah!”

Gonzales, Kington, and Portillo will be sworn into the Board at the next regular school board meeting on May 16.

PBTISD would also like to thank Gail Box and Robin Land for their dedication and years of service during their time on the PBTISD Board of Trustees.
