22/27 Strategic Plan

The 22/27 Strategic Plan was developed by a coalition of 78 individuals comprising district and campus administrators, counselors, teachers, community leaders, parents, students, and board members. This plan will communicate the District’s goals, the actions needed to achieve those goals, and all of the other critical elements developed.

MISSION 

The unique purpose for which the school district exists and the specific function it performs.

The mission of  Pecos-Barstow-Toyah Independent School District, the premier educational leader of West Texas, encompassing collective communities, is to inspire and empower each individual to achieve excellence, positively impact the community, and transform the world through a culture characterized by authentic relationships, shared responsibility and state-of-the-art learning environments.


OBJECTIVES

The desired results for the school district.

  • All students will achieve academic excellence
  • All students will be provided instruction and support that meets their academic needs each day. 
  • All students will be provided social and emotional support in safe learning environments.

III.  We will broaden and strengthen partnerships with staff, families and communities through transparency and effective communication.

V. We will recruit, support, develop, and retain highly qualified staff.


SPECIFIC RESULT STATEMENTS

The outcomes needed to ensure the implementation of each strategy. 

I.    We will ensure safe and nurturing environments.

  1. Develop and implement comprehensive District-wide Standard Emergency Protocols.
  2. Implement social-emotional behavior support systems. 
  3. Implement practices that build character and support positive student behavior. 
  4. Provide ongoing opportunities to support individualized student academic and career goals. 
  5. Build positive staff relationships through District and campus-level activities. 
  6. Develop and communicate ways for stakeholders to report bullying, threats, and concerns. 
  II.    We will provide a guaranteed and viable curriculum and effective instructional practices to achieve high levels of student engagement and excellence.
  1. Develop curriculum resources that support teachers and instructional staff. 
  2. Implement curriculum resources that support teachers and instructional staff. 
  3. Ensure curriculum encourages diversity, has culturally inclusive practices, and implements social and emotional learning that supports each student. 
  4. Develop practices that engage students in life-ready skills. 
  5. Implement systems PK-12 for students to be College, Career, or Military Ready. 
  6. Develop comprehensive curriculum guides that provide pace, rigor, and aligned curriculum resources. 
  7. Implement research-based teaching practices.
  III.    We will broaden and strengthen partnerships with staff, families, and communities through transparency and effective communication.
  1. Showcase students and staff throughout the District.
  2. Align current platforms to provide effective communication. 
  3. Provide opportunities for community members to receive information on parenting, students supports, and other topics.  
  4. Maximize opportunities for family and community involvement through volunteer partnerships. 
  5. Develop and provide support to ensure consistent and professional communications by all employees. 
  6. Develop and enhance partnerships with industries, businesses, and higher education.
  IV.    We will be responsible stewards of our resources.
  1. Create processes for developing department and campus budgets to align District and campus goals.
  2. Develop processes and resources for alternative funding opportunities.
  3. Implement approaches to conserve or reuse resources.
  4. Educated the community regarding school finance. 
  5. Provide and maintain facilities that create and impace innovative learning environments.
  6. Develop and implement equitable staffing ratios.
  V.    We will recruit, support, develop, and retain highly qualified staff.
  1. Develop a robust employee recruitment process.
  2. Develop a robust employee mentoring, support, and retention process.
  3. Provide competitive compensation and benefits.
  4. Expand opportunities for all staff to acquire higher education, professional, and industry certifications. 
  5. Implement and sustain professional learning communities.
  6. Develop a process and procedures for requesting professional development to build the capacity of all staff.
