Standard Mode of Dress
Dress and Grooming (All Grade Levels)
The district’s dress code is established to teach grooming and hygiene, prevent disruption, and minimize safety hazards. Students and parents may determine a student’s personal dress and grooming standards, provided that they comply with the following:
Purple, Gold, White, Grey, Black, Navy
Black, Blue, Khaki
Secondary School campus approved short or long sleeve solid color polo or Oxford type with collar in purple, gold, white, black or gray. Logos, artwork, or embroidery must be less than 2” X 2” on the front left chest of the shirt. Shirts must be long enough to be tucked in. DO NOT WEAR see-thru blouses or oversized shirts. Students may wear a solid gray, black, or white long or short sleeve t-shirt under their campus shirt. PE/Athletic attire may only be worn during Physical Education class. No denim.
Standard Mode of Dress will be pants of Khaki, navy blue, or black in color. Pants must be worn on the waist and fit so that pant does not fall below the waist. Pants must be hemmed appropriately. Pants may not be torn at the seams and may not drag on the ground. Pant bottoms may not be rolled up to form cuffs. Pants must be worn on the outside of all footwear. Pants may not be tucked into shoes or socks. DO NOT WEAR oversized, baggy, saggy, wide-leg, low-riders, below the waist, tight, hip huggers, cargo, stretch pants (leggings/jeggings/yoga cloth-like materials) or suggestive pants. No joggers. No denim.
SHORTS, SKIRTS, DRESSES, JUMPERS
Khaki, navy blue, or black shorts, skirts, dresses, or jumpers may be worn. The length shall be no more than 3 inches above the knee (items purchased with slits will be measured for the 3 inch requirement from the top of the slit to the knee). DO NOT WEAR oversized, baggy, saggy, low-riders, below the waist, tight, hip huggers, suggestive or cargo shorts. PE/Athletic attire may only be worn during Physical Education class. No denim.
Students must wear shoes at all times—taps, metal plates, or cleats on shoes will not be permitted; prohibited footwear includes slippers, slides, flip flops or footwear not intended for outdoor wear, shoes equipped with roller blades/wheels or lighted shoes.
Belts are optional, but if worn, must be worn appropriately in the belt loops or at the natural waist. Belts must be plain brown or black, with no initial or oversized buckles. Belts may not be oversized so that the end of the belt hangs down. Belts may not have studs or metal trappings.
No caps, beanies, hats, hoods or any other head covering shall be worn on campus. Bandanas are not allowed on campus.
SPIRIT/COLLEGE SHIRT DAYS
Every Monday is College shirt day. Students may wear a college shirt of choice with the Standard Mode of Dress pant.
Every Friday is Spirit Shirt Day. Students may wear a Secondary School or Pecos Eagle spirit shirt with the Standard Mode of Dress pant.
SPECIAL EVENT DAYS
Principals may allow deviation from the Standard Mode of Dress for Special Event Days.
If there is a violation, the student shall be given an opportunity to correct the problem. If not corrected, the student shall be assigned to in-school suspension for the remainder of the day or until the problem is corrected. Repeated dress code offenses may result in more serious disciplinary action. Appropriate discipline procedures shall be followed in all cases in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct.
Earrings are permitted; but jewelry may not be worn in any pierced area of the body except the ear and the maximum number will be three earrings in each ear. Decorative jewelry or other objects that pierce, clip, or stick on any visible part of the body except the ears such as nose studs or rings, tongue studs, or rings, eyebrow studs or rings, lip studs or rings, eyelet plugs, spacers, gages, etc…will not be permitted.
