Board of Trustees Approve Academic Calendar

On Monday evening, March 21, the PBTISD Board of Trustees approved a new academic calendar for the 2022-2023 school year. The new calendar will return to a semi-traditional calendar and remove the two one-week intersessions administered this year.

With the new calendar, the first day of school is scheduled for August 10 with staff development beginning August 1. The ADSY (Additional School Day Year) Intersession has returned to being administered during the entire month of June. Additionally, the calendar includes 6 days for staff development and data digs.

A new calendar change the PBTISD community can expect is a later start and return to the winter break. Winter break will now begin on December 23 with a student return date of January 10. Staff will return for a workday on January 9.

“The last few years have proven difficult for teachers and students across the country,” said Superintendent Brent Jaco. “This calendar will address the burnout many have been experiencing since returning to in-person instruction, while also still giving students that much-needed time in school to catch up.”

Other breaks like Thanksgiving and Spring will remain in their usual scheduling and 2 Bad Weather Days have been added to the new academic calendar.
