The No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB) requires each local education agency (LEA) to publicly report the progress of the LEA and its campuses toward meeting the highly qualified (HQ) teacher requirements. Pecos-Barstow-Toyah ISD has satisfied the requirement under the No Child Left Behind Act by having 100% of the core academic subject area teachers meet the highly qualified requirements for the 2017-2018 school year. In order to be considered highly qualified, teachers must hold at least a bachelor's degree, be fully certified in Texas, and demonstrate competency in the core academic subject area they are teaching.
