The Pecos High School Swim Team put on another strong performance at the Pecos–Seminole–Monahans Tri-Meet on October 14, showing steady progress across both the boys’ and girls’ divisions.

The Lady Eagles tied Monahans in overall team points (140 each), a clear sign that Pecos is closing the gap and competing strategically. Leading the way for the girls was Lorelyn Lopez, who set a new meet record in the 500-yard freestyle (6:01.59) and placed first in the event. Lopez also anchored the 400-yard freestyle relay, where Pecos claimed first place with a time of 4:16.73 alongside Zaylee Moya, Ella Wimberly, and Aubrie Tavarez.

Other standout performances included Faith Jasso’s win in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:24.88) and Moya’s first-place finish in 1-meter diving (138.10). Lorelyn Lopez and Ella Wimberly also placed top three in their individual events, continuing their strong start to the season.

On the boys’ side, Pecos continued to build momentum with key relay performances and improved individual times. The boys’ 400-yard freestyle relay team of Brandon Pina, Ezequiel Mendoza, Nestor Mendoza, and Liam Barmore earned third place with a season-best 3:58.70. Barmore also earned second in the 500-yard freestyle (5:51.22), while Calen Bradfield and Pina recorded personal bests in their freestyle events.

Head Coach Minjarez praised the team’s consistency and effort, “Both teams continue to make steady improvements, and it's showing in our times. The girls tying with Monahans is a clear sign that we're gaining ground and swimming smart. The boys are making the small adjustments that matter and hitting our goals on the relays, great signs of what’s to come when we face our district in November.”

The team will return to action in Fort Stockton on Saturday, October 25. There will be no diving competition on Friday, October 24. Pecos will continue with several tri-meets before diving into the heart of their invitational season.
