The Pecos Eagles Cross Country team capped off an incredible season at the UIL Region I-4A Championships in Lubbock, finishing 5th overall with a team time of 1:24:28.50 and an average pace of 16:53 per runner, their fastest collective showing of the year.
Sophomore Jayden Hernandez and senior Mauricio Villescas led the charge, crossing the line nearly together at 16:35 and 16:35.9, securing 19th and 20th place overall. Close behind, sophomores Ronaldo Zaleta and Cody Saldaรฑa posted strong finishes at 16:49 and 16:58, followed by junior Jaiden Juarez at 17:30, rounding out Pecosโ scoring five.
Freshmen Aiden Barragan and Kian Aguilar also represented the Eagles with grit in their first regional appearance, helping the team close out a dominant postseason run after claiming the District 3-4A Championship title earlier this month.
This yearโs Region I meet showcased the depth and determination of a program built on hard work, consistency, and belief. Every mile reflected the Eaglesโ season-long commitment to #EarnTheRight.
