Crockett Middle School Launches T.A.M.E. Club
Crockett Middle School has started a new club sponsored by Clint Garzon, 8th grade Science Teacher, and Stephanie Flores, 8th grade Science Teacher. The club is part of the Texas Alliance for Minorities in Engineering (T.A.M.E.).
T.A.M.E. is a group that supports minority students interested in careers in engineering, science, technology, and math (STEM). The organization collaborates with schools, universities, and industry professionals to offer resources, mentorship, and learning opportunities.
The club meets regularly to learn about engineering. Each year, the group travels to compete in events related to STEM fields. Last year, students competed in Midland, where they built water wheels. This year, the students are working on designing and building electric cars. The program has been in effect at Crockett Middle School for four years.
Stephanie Flores, T.A.M.E. sponsor, shared, “The program has grown over the years, and the kids have really enjoyed working together and learning new things. It’s been amazing to see their growth and teamwork.”
Officers for the club were voted in yesterday. The new officers are: President Zachary Banot, Vice President Naya Banot, Secretary Kian Aguilar, Public Relations Officer Clementina Elpedez, and Treasurer Yureka Abellera. Pictured are members presenting to their peers during the election of officers. These students will help lead the group through upcoming activities and events.
