free school supplies for all students

For the third consecutive year, Pecos-Barstow-Toyah ISD (PBTISD) is proud to announce that it will once again purchase school supplies for all students for the 2025-2026 school year. This initiative, which began in 2023, is part of the district’s continued commitment to ensuring every student starts the school year prepared and ready to learn.

In addition to covering school supplies for students, PBTISD will also offer a $400 allotment reimbursement for all teachers and counselors for classroom supply needs. The educator reimbursement demonstrates the district’s ongoing commitment to supporting those who dedicate themselves to educating, inspiring, and empowering students every day.

“By providing school supplies for all our students, we are removing a significant barrier to their learning and ensuring that they are ready and can focus on their education,” said Superintendent Brent Jaco. “And by extending this investment to our teachers and counselors, we are recognizing their essential role in creating a thriving learning environment. These actions reflect our belief in supporting both our students and our staff.”

The school supplies initiative includes essential items such as notebooks, pens, pencils, crayons, glue, folders, and other classroom materials that are typically required at the start of the school year. The supplies will be distributed to all students enrolled in PBTISD schools on the first few days of class, allowing families to avoid back-to-school shopping for basic classroom necessities.

The PBTISD Board of Trustees has continued to show full support for the initiative since its launch.

“As a board, we are committed to creating an inclusive and supportive environment for our students,” said Board President AlexAndrea Zamarippa. “This investment in school supplies is an investment in their future, enabling them to start the school year on an equal footing and empowering them to reach their full potential. We’re also proud to offer financial relief to our educators who invest so much of their own time and resources into the classroom.”

This dual investment in students and staff complements the district’s broader efforts to meet the needs of its learning community, including the continuation of free breakfast and lunch for all students during the school year.

“Whether it’s through nutritious meals, necessary supplies, or first-class instruction, PBTISD remains focused on removing barriers to success,” said Jaco. “Our mission is clear: to prepare students for a rapidly changing world by equipping them with the tools, resources, and support systems they need to thrive.”
