Pecos-Barstow-Toyah ISD is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. John Pineda as the district's new Executive Director of Secondary Schools.

Dr. Pineda brings more than three decades of experience in Texas public education to PBTISD, including extensive leadership experience at the secondary level. In his role, he will support and oversee secondary education programs and support leadership at Crockett Middle School and Pecos High School. While helping advance the district's commitment to academic excellence, student achievement, and continuous improvement.

Prior to joining PBTISD, Dr. Pineda served as principal of La Grange High School in La Grange ISD, a position he had held since 2015. During his 31-year career in education, he also served as assistant principal, teacher, and coach.

Dr. Pineda holds a Doctor of Education and a Master of Education from Concordia University. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Edward's University and an Associate of Arts degree from Lon Morris College. He also holds Texas certifications in Principal, Instructional Leadership Development, Special Education, All-Level Physical Education, and Health.

Acting Superintendent Chris Henson said Dr. Pineda's extensive background in secondary education and instructional leadership will be a tremendous asset to the district.

"Dr. Pineda brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to PBTISD," Henson said. "His leadership at the campus level, commitment to student success, and ability to build strong relationships make him an excellent addition to our team. We are excited to welcome him to Eagle Nation and look forward to the positive impact he will have on our students, staff, and schools."

Dr. Pineda said he is eager to begin serving the students, staff, and families of Pecos-Barstow-Toyah ISD.

"I am pleased to have been named to the PBTISD team and sincerely appreciate the confidence shown by the PBTISD leadership," Pineda said. "Having been part of teams throughout my career, I look forward to building strong, collaborative relationships with students, teachers, staff, families, and community partners. I plan to leverage my experience as a teacher, coach, and campus administrator at both the middle and high school levels to support and contribute to PBTISD's continued success."

Outside of his professional career, Dr. Pineda and his wife, Bonnie Busch, have been together for 26 years. They have a daughter who is currently a junior at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth.

PBTISD welcomes Dr. Pineda to the district and looks forward to his leadership in supporting students and staff across its secondary campuses.
