May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week is May 4 through May 10, 2025. Children’s Mental Health Day is May 8, 2025. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) recognizes the day to bring attention to the mental health needs of children and young people.
For Children’s Health Awareness Week, PBTISD encourages the district to participate in the following dress-up days:
Mindful Monday, May 5 - Wear sunglasses and a college tee.
Tropical Tuesday, May 6 - Wear a Hawaiian shirt or beach attire.
Wellness Wednesday, May 7 - Wear green.
Thoughtful Thursday, May 8 - Wear tie-dye or multiple colors.
Friendship Fun Friday, May 9 - Wear something fun that will make your friends smile.
PBTISD also encourages everyone to wear green every Wednesday throughout the month of May to show their support and raise awareness.

How to Talk About Mental Health
Mental health is essential to a person’s life in the same way as physical health. Hesitation to talk about mental health adds to the notion that the topic is taboo. Alongside
All PBTISD students grades 4-12 have access to Alongside through their student device and Google log-in. Alongside is an online platform that provides personalized 24/7 mental health support. If students express ideations or feelings of suicide campus administration and counselors are immediately notified to provide immediate care and interventions.
