Pecos-Barstow-Toyah ISD is excited to announce the appointment of Abigail Adam as the new principal of Zavala Elementary, bringing more than two decades of educational experience and a passion for instructional leadership to the district.
Adam joins PBTISD after serving as a middle school principal, where she led campus improvement efforts focused on student achievement, professional learning communities, instructional excellence, and campus culture. Throughout her 24-year career in education, she has served as a principal, assistant principal, administrative intern, instructional technologist, and classroom teacher, establishing a strong foundation in leadership, curriculum development, technology integration, and student success.
A graduate of Texas Tech University, Adam earned a Master of Education in Educational Leadership, a Master of Science in Entomology, and a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Conservation of Natural Resources. She also completed her educator certification through West Texas A&M University and administration licensure through the University of the Southwest.
"I am proud to start my 24th year in education at Zavala Elementary," Adam said. "PBTISD has welcomed me with open arms, and I am excited to join a team that is so clearly committed to serving the students and families in Pecos and the surrounding communities. Zavala has an exceptionally vibrant culture, and I can't wait to help this phenomenal staff continue to build a love of learning for our students."
Acting Superintendent Chris Henson said Adam's experience and collaborative leadership style make her an outstanding addition to the district.
"Mrs. Adam brings a wealth of instructional leadership experience and a genuine passion for helping students and educators succeed," Henson said. "Her commitment to building strong relationships, supporting teachers, and creating engaging learning environments aligns with the vision we have for our schools.
