Pecos-Barstow-Toyah ISD is proud to announce that Crockett Middle School Assistant Principal Amber Godby has been named the 2025-2026 Region 18 Middle School Assistant Principal of the Year by the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals (TASSP).

This prestigious recognition honors exceptional leadership, dedication to student success, and commitment to excellence in secondary-level education. Godby was selected from a field of outstanding assistant principals across Region 18, which spans West Texas and includes dozens of public school districts.

“I’m incredibly honored to be named Region 18 Middle School Assistant Principal of the Year,” said Godby. “Crockett and PBTISD have given me every opportunity to grow, lead, and serve—and I’m thankful for every person who’s been part of that journey. Every day, I get to work alongside a community that shows up for kids and embodies our mission to inspire and empower them. This recognition reflects the heart, dedication, and excellence of our entire school family. Dream big, Eagles!”

Godby has served as the assistant principal of Crockett Middle School for the past four years. Known for her student-centered approach and steadfast commitment to staff support, Godby brings a leadership philosophy rooted in relationships, equity, and systems thinking.

“I became an assistant principal because I believe in the power of leadership to create meaningful change,” said Godby. “I wanted to be in a role where I could support teachers, champion student growth, and help create an environment where everyone feels seen, supported, and empowered to succeed.”

Crockett Middle School Principal David Credille commended Godby’s passion and consistency, noting her deep impact on the school community.

“Amber leads with heart, integrity, and a relentless focus on student success,” said Credille. “She is the kind of leader who listens deeply, supports wholeheartedly, and challenges others to be their best. Our campus is better because of her leadership, and I’m thrilled to see her receive this well-deserved recognition.”

Godby attributes much of her success to the people around her—students, staff, and community members alike. Whether leading campus-wide initiatives or offering one-on-one support, she is known for her ability to build trust and inspire growth.

“Honestly, it’s the relationships,” Godby shared. “I love getting to know students and staff, having real conversations, and being someone they can count on. Watching people grow—academically, personally, professionally—is the best part of the job.”

The Texas Association of Secondary School Principals annually honors outstanding administrators across the state. As Region 18 Assistant Principal of the Year, Godby will be recognized at the upcoming TASSP Summer Workshop in Austin, where she will also be considered for the State Middle School Assistant Principal of the Year award.

PBTISD Superintendent Brent Jaco expressed his pride in Godby’s achievement and the example she sets for educational leadership.

“Amber Godby represents everything we value in PBTISD—integrity, excellence, and commitment to students,” said Jaco. “Her recognition as Region 18 Assistant Principal of the Year is not only a reflection of her remarkable leadership but a celebration of what’s possible when we lead with heart and purpose.”

Amber will be recognized during the Jostens Night of the Stars Awards Dinner held in conjunction with the TASSP Summer Workshop next June.
