Pecos-Barstow-Toyah Independent School District is excited to announce the appointment of Dr. Stacie Del Angel as the district's new executive director of student services. Del Angel brings 29 years of experience in public education, including a decade in campus and district leadership, to her new role.

As executive director of student services, Del Angel will oversee the district's attendance initiatives, school counseling services, school nursing services, and safety and security efforts. She will work closely with district and campus administrators, staff, families and community partners to support safe, welcoming and supportive learning environments for all PBTISD students.

"I am excited to join Pecos-Barstow-Toyah ISD and become part of a community where school spirit and pride are so evident," Del Angel said. "I look forward to working alongside the entire PBTISD team to help ensure the safety, well-being and success of every student."

Del Angel joins PBTISD from Big Spring ISD, where she most recently served as director of state and federal programs. In that role, she oversaw federal program compliance, grant management, fiscal oversight and districtwide improvement initiatives. She also coordinated parent and family engagement efforts and supported campus improvement planning.

Throughout her career, Del Angel has worked extensively in student support services, school improvement, regulatory compliance and campus operations. Her previous responsibilities have included overseeing attendance and truancy prevention initiatives, coordinating student intervention programs, supporting campus safety efforts and collaborating with local law enforcement agencies.

PBTISD Superintendent Chris Henson said Del Angel's experience in both campus and district leadership will be an asset to the district's student support efforts.

"Student success depends on more than what happens in the classroom. It also means making sure our students feel safe, supported and connected to their schools," Henson said. "Dr. Del Angel brings a wealth of experience in educational leadership and student services, and we are excited to welcome her to Eagle Nation. I am confident her leadership will help us continue strengthening the support we provide to our students, families and staff."

Del Angel began her career in education as a teacher and has served in a variety of instructional and administrative roles, including instructional coach, department chair, team leader and campus administrator. Her experience spans elementary and secondary education, providing her with a broad understanding of the needs of students at different stages of their educational journey.

She earned her Doctor of Education in educational leadership from Texas Tech University, a Master of Education in administration and supervision from the University of Houston-Victoria, and a Bachelor of Arts in English and psychology from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. She also holds Texas certifications as a superintendent and principal, along with certifications in special education, English as a second language and gifted and talented education.

In her new role, Del Angel will focus on strengthening coordination among the district's student support departments, promoting student attendance and engagement, and ensuring students and families have access to the resources they need to succeed.

Her appointment reflects PBTISD's continued commitment to placing students first and supporting their academic achievement, safety and overall well-being.
