September 12 is National Police Woman Day, a day to honor the achievements and contributions of women in law enforcement across the country. Today, PBTISD is proud to celebrate the women serving in our very own police department who dedicate their careers to protecting and supporting our students, staff, and families. 👮🏻♀️
Officer Evelyn J. Salcido (Discovery School) has served in law enforcement for 7 years. She says, “Protecting the community, and safeguarding the young minds that will build the future,” is what drives her work. For her, the most rewarding part of the job is “getting to see all the kids’ smiles.”
Officer Christina Salazar (Pecos High School) brings 22 years of service to the district. She describes herself as dependable and shares, “I am very fortunate to be part of a team that keeps our kids safe at school and can depend on us to be there for them. The most rewarding part is keeping our kids safe!” She also adds, “I am very blessed to be a part of our community to serve our future generation.”
Officer Annabel Serrano (Crockett Middle School) has dedicated 26 years to law enforcement. She believes her role is about much more than enforcing the law, explaining, “It’s about building relationships, being a role model, and creating an environment where everyone feels secure and respected.” She describes herself as fair and finds the most rewarding part to be “building trust and meaningful relationships with students, staff, and families, and knowing that my presence helps create a safer, more supportive learning environment.” Her message to the community: “It’s an honor to serve this community. Thank you for trusting me to be part of your children’s daily lives. I’m here not only to protect, but also to listen, support, and stand alongside this amazing community.”
Officer Olga Keese (Zavala Elementary) has served 22 years in law enforcement. For her, serving PBTISD “means everything.” She describes herself as caring and says the most rewarding part is being able to “serve and protect the staff and children of PBTISD.” She leaves a message for our community: “Always remember that our students are our future.”
